Building Families’ Strengths by Supporting Family Engagement in Today’s World
Course 1: Foundations of Family Engagement ST# 10162903
What is family engagement? Our experiences shape how we define this question. In this course, we will examine our own biases and learn the process of reaching out to families, forming reciprocal partnerships, and valuing their contributions.

Course 2: The Role of the Early Childhood Educator ST# 10162901
We all want to be the best at what we do but early childhood professionals have a passion for their work that is unlike any other. This course is created to give you the opportunity to reflect on your role as an early childhood educator, examining the pedagogy that informs your work and builds family and community engagement. You will examine how child development, teacher preparedness, and intentional relationship building with families strengthen your skills and ability to work effectively with families. Course 3: Creating the Environment ST# 10162902
In this course, participants will examine the importance of the home-to-school connection and the research that supports its implementation into every program. We will discuss how curriculum, the physical environment, and staff culture all contribute to this connection. We will review examples of materials and brainstorm inventive ways to co-construct learning opportunities with families, and we will examine the parent’s role in learning and engagement.

Course 4: Community Partnerships ST# 10162900
Do you remember a special teacher from your childhood? What about a coach, a girl or boy scout leader, the owner of a local business, or a Sunday School teacher? All of those community members helped shape who you are today by providing support and creating a better environment for you and your family. This module discusses the benefits of community engagement and theoretical models that serve as the foundation for how early childhood professionals can build positive relationships with families.
