CLOTHING TROPHY SPONSORS NEEDED
The 4-H Family & Consumer Sciences committee is seeking trophy sponsors for state fair trophies. Sponsorships are $15.00 payable to T.C. Home Ec Committee. If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring a state fair trophy, please contact the OSU Extension Office.
4-H HELP NEEDED!
Some of you might not be aware that the Trumbull County Guernsey Club has donated to 4-H for several years. Their donations help all 4-H families through scholarships, trophies, and recognition awards, just to name a few. The Guernsey Club has never asked for anything in return for their donation. However, this year they are seeking our assistance with their Dairy Bar at the fair. They are in need of folks to work in the dairy bar. If you are available to work, please let me know. I’ll put you in touch with the Guernsey Club to schedule your time. Please find a few hours to volunteer – it’s a small price to pay for such loyal supporters of our program. Thank you!
TREASURY TIPS
Being the 4-H club treasurer is a very important responsibility. Below are a few tips to help make the treasurer’s job easier.
-
Prepare an annual budget with your finance committee & advisor – this will help guide your club.
-
Only spend money with the club’s approval, which should be recorded as a motion in the minutes.
-
Only pay bills by check, and have paperwork for all bills paid. NEVER PAY BY CASH!
-
Write receipts for all money collected and maintain a copy of the receipts in your records.
4-H ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The 4-H Advisory Committee has several sub-committees that plan various 4-H functions. This year, the Advisory Committee is planning a breakfast during the 2008 Trumbull County Fair. The breakfast will be on Sunday morning (July 13) from 8am – 11am. 4-H Clubs are asked to help, starting at 7:30 am. This breakfast will replace the annual chicken BBQ from past years. Watch the next newsletter to learn more about the Trumbull County 4-H Advisory Committee.
4-H ADVISORY BREAKFAST
The Trumbull 4-H Advisory Committee will be hosting a breakfast on Sunday, July 13 from 8:00 am – 11:00 am. They need your help! They need 2-3 people per club to help with the breakfast and they need to rest of you to show up with a hearty appetite! More details on the breakfast can be found in the included flyer. Again, proceeds from the breakfast will be used for 4-H member & advisor recognition, various camp scholarships, and other 4-H events and activities.
4-H ADVISORY COMMITTEE - SECRETARY BOOK CONTEST
Trumbull County will hold its annual Secretary Records Book Contest for a third year in a row. Record books may be turned in to the Jr. Fair office anytime during the Fair. They will then be judged and three winners will be chosen. The following are some guidelines as to how the records will be judged. All 4-H clubs and 4-H related groups (ie: Jr. Fairboard) are invited to participate in this contest. This will also count on the 4-H Honor Club application.
-
Records may be kept in the official Ohio 4-H Club Secretary’s Record Book or a secretary may use a binder to organize the records. If a binder is used, the most recent record should be on top with the previous minutes following.
-
There should be a complete club roster with all names, addresses and phone numbers available.
-
Agenda items should be in bold print or indented to stand out.
-
Records should be neat and legible. All writing should be in blue or black ink throughout the entire book.
-
The last item should be a summary of the year. Some ideas for a summary would be how many new members joined in the year, how many projects were completed, what kind of fund raisers were held, what type of speakers were heard and what the thoughts were on them.
4-H ADVISORY COOKBOOKS
Thank you to everyone who submitted recipes for the Trumbull 4-H Cookbook! If you would still like to submit a recipe or two, please complete the recipe template found online at http://trumbull.osu.edu/4H or by contacting the OSU Extension Office. We have a short window in which we can still accept recipes. As soon as we know when the cookbooks will be available for purchase, we will let everyone know. Proceeds from the cookbook sales will be used for 4-H member & advisor recognition, various camp scholarships, and other 4-H events and activities.

CLEANING UP BEFORE OR AFTER FAIR? EVER WONDER WHICH DUMPSTER TO USE?
The 4-H Equine Program Development Committee requests that the large dumpster located next to the horse barns be used for MANURE ONLY! Anything else that needs disposed of should be put in the Sunburst Dumpster located across the street from the Concession Stand Block Building.
Please note that the Equine Committee pays for the dumpster located next to the horse barns and appreciates your cooperation!
SPEAKING OF FAIR CLEAN UP! POST-FAIR BARN CLEANING
Barns must be cleaned either Sunday, July 20 or Monday, July 21. Please do your part!!! Every member who has an animal at fair is obligated to clean the area their animal used. If everyone does their share, the fairgrounds should look as good when we leave as it did when we entered!
Please remove all manure and bedding from stalls and pile at the designated ends of your barn! If you have a Small Animal Project, make sure you clean your areas and the cages you used properly!
